Here's some stuff to make up for being such a slacking slag here lately:

Freaking hell, things have been a bit loony around these parts lately and I owe a serious update and some general TLC to the gallery and everything -- but that's upcoming stuff for when I have more time than I currently have!
BUT I wanted to highlight a sale going on now of various Manics related items.
Go here to check it out! :)

There hasn't been any official word on this from the band themselves, but venues have been announcing gigs and tickets have been going on sale, so everyone's thinking an official announcement (and more dates) will soon appear. Let's hope so!
These are the dates that have been discovered so far:
Keep tabs on the front page of foreverdelayed.org.uk for updates, as well as the band's official site, of course.

I've been sick for the past week or so, and can't really do anything, so this afternoon I decided to set about organizing the gallery a bit more like I've wanted to do for a while.
What I've accomplished so far is to set up a system of tags for every photo, along with uploading some screen caps and animations, and merging / deleting some folders.
I think I've tagged things pretty well, but you all will have to let me know if I really did or not. I haven't tagged everything yet, but all of the tags I'm going to create have been created. I know I asked a while ago whether tags would be useful or not, and nobody thought they would, but I've always wanted to do it, anyway, because there are so many folders that I don't think people check. This way, if you're looking for something like color Richey photos, click the tag "richey:color" and you'll see ALL of them, from EVERY folder.
Here's an example of what's been tagged so far for "group:color," so you can see how it works. Click to enlarge any of the photos and you'll find more tags.
While I was tagging stuff, I decided to just delete all the folders I had for Nicky, James, and Sean by themselves. In the beginning, I tried to keep some stuff up for all the Manics members, in order to be fair to all of them and not look so obviously like I was playing favorites. But, as I was tagging stuff today, I just felt that I'm not doing the other members justice in my gallery, so I'm just gonna outright say that this gallery is heavily Richey-based and leave it at that. I know of other galleries that are far better stocked for the other members, and I will link to those in the userinfo here once I'm done with redoing everything. I still want people to be able to find photos of the Manics as a whole; I just didn't feel it was fair to pretend like I was any good at supplying vast amounts of photos / information on the others like I am with Richey, especially since I know so many other people who can do the job much better than I can.
All of that is not to say, however, that no other members of the band but Richey appear in the gallery. Everyone has his own tag, and I've kept various screen caps and articles that include the whole band, as well as any LARGE scans. So stuff's still around here and there. I just deleted the main galleries I had for the other members that had random photos I didn't think anyone would care about / other galleries have stocked much better.
YEAH, SO. Browse the tags and various sub-galleries and let me know if you see anything incorrectly labeled or maybe feel that I'm missing a label in general. Also let me know if you see anything you capped or scanned or whatever and is missing credit to you / credited incorrectly.
Things to accomplish in the near future for the gallery are:
01) Finish tagging everything
02) Delete repeats of photos / crappy quality photos (if better versions exist)
03) Upload the remaining stuff I have
04) Add other gallery links to userinfo
I'll update again when all that is finished.

( Unedited NME interview from the NME blog )
Hello to all you lovely, lovely people!
As most of you have already noticed, Journal for Plague Lovers has had an explosive reception amongst fans who've heard it already, and there has been a massive, massive flood of "new" Richey, well, everything. I have SO MUCH to update the gallery with regarding all of this (and more), but for now, I figured I'd give all of you who read this journal some updates on stuff.

It was on youtube, but has since been removed.

Interview with Nicky about JfPL
( Stills )

This is on sale this week, I believe.

There's also a documentary airing soon about Richey.
(mentioned in the interview linked above)
For anyone over at dreamwidth, there is a manicsobsessed community as well as a richeyedwards community.
I'd also like to mention that
manicsecret is up and running again now.
Hmm. I think that's it for right now. Follow
manicsobsessive &
sleepflowers for more frequent updates. I also have the occasional public post about the Manics over at
richey.
Stay effing beautiful, you guys.

A big, BIG, BIG thanks to
ms_streetspirit for some paid account time for this journal / the gallery :)
I'll update again once I've got stuff sorted and have added more photos / artwork.

Some of you may have noticed that the gallery here has been missing recently. That's because this journal's paid account expired and I'm broke, bawww. Luckily, I found that by making this account a plus account, I can keep most of the gallery online. But that means I can't add anything else to it, and some of it is already missing (I don't know what parts) because I've gone over the space limit that a plus account provides.
I don't know when I'll be able to pay for anything, so this is as good as it's gonna get for a while--unless someone wants to help me out and buy some paid time for this account again(and possibly for
richey too. BAWW I MISS A PAID ACCOUNT hahaha I'm a whore ;-;). I'd add credit in the userinfo and in a post here if anyone actually does that. If not, THAT'S KEWL, just throwing that out there.
Anyway, I'm glad people find this stuff useful and I thank you for your support over the years!

I was shocked when I saw the full-page obit in the Guardian. My first thought was that Richey's body had finally been found. Reading on, it was almost a relief to learn that his parents, 14 years after he disappeared, had been granted a court order for Richey to be legally 'presumed dead'.
I photographed the Manics on many occasions, and it only seems a few years since I was walking around Bangkok at night with Richey, looking for suitably grubby locations in which to photograph him. The first time was in Paris in March 1991, early one morning. They'd been out all night; it suited them to look wasted.
Later I shot them for their first NME cover.

It has been 13 years since he mysteriously disappeared but now the fate of missing rock star Richey Edwards has been finally settled – in legal terms, at least.
There have been dozens of unconfirmed ‘sightings’ of the Manic Street Preachers guitarist and songwriter, public appeals and claims from band members that ‘things don’t add up’.
Now, however, his parents Graham and Sherry Edwards have been granted a court order for their son to be presumed dead.
The move is said to be ‘hugely emotional’ for the other three band members – James Dean Bradfield, Nicky Wire and Sean Moore – who still dedicate songs to Edwards hoping he might one day return.

Manic Street Preachers are recording an album using Richey Edwards' lyrics.
The Welsh trio are currently in the studio working on songs using the words left behind by the guitarist when he disappeared in February 1995, and have promised the resulting record will be close in tone to seminal third album 'The Holy Bible', regarded as one of the darkest in rock.
Bassist Nicky Wire told NME magazine: "We've had these lyrics for 14 years and we all felt compelled that this was the right time to do it. It's a follow-up to 'The Holy Bible' in a lot of ways and I did write 25 per cent of the words on that but on this one it felt proper that they were entirely Richey's.
"There's a small amount of editing involved because some of them are prose and they needed to be made into lyrics but they're all Richey's."
Tentative titles for the songs include 'Peeled Apples', 'Doors Closing Slowly', 'Jackie Collins' Existential Question Time' and 'William's Last Words' and the bassist admits he has no idea what some of them are about.
Nicky added: "Lyrically some of it is pretty impenetrable even to us and we knew him pretty well. We don't know what he's talking about half the time because he's not around to tell us."
According to the band, the LP - which is provisionally titled 'Journal For Plague Lovers' - will sound "half intense post-punk rock with the other songs displaying a more tender acoustic side".
It is being produced by Steve Albini, who worked on Nirvana's 'In Utero' album.
There are no plans to release singles from the record and the band are yet to decide if they will tour in support of the album.
Although Richey's car was discovered by an infamous British suicide spot shortly after his disappearance, his body has never been found, though there have been rumoured sightings of him all over the world.

Hello everyone
We thought you would like to know that we have been making music. We have been in the studio with Mr Steve Albini recording live – to tape – analogue – no digital hiss – no Pro Tools – no safety nets. Quite scary, daunting but invigorating.
All the songs we are recording are lyrics left to us by Richey. Finally it feels like the right time to use them (especially after the last 18 months being so amazing with Send Away The Tigers). Musically, in many ways it feels like a follow up to the Holy Bible but there is also an acoustic side – tender, romantic, nihilism, “Small Black Flowers That Grow In The Sky” esque. It’s a record that celebrates the genius of his words, full of love, anger, intelligence and respect. We have to make this great. Wish us luck.
We hope to release the record next April or May. The working titles are “Journal for Plague Lovers” or “I Know I Believe In Nothing But It Is My Nothing”.
Love
Nicky, James and Sean.

As a side note, I'm not involving myself in the Manics fandom much at this point. I'm keeping this journal up, and I'll probably post from time to time, but I won't be on top of everything like I used to. I just thought I'd let you know.

There's a new message from Nicky on the official site.
07 April 2008 - The Manic Street Preachers are planning a hard rock direction for their next album.
Bassist Nicky Wire spoke exclusively to 6 Music about already having their sights set on album number nine.
He said: “We’re itching – I know James has got loads of stuff written in his head. I can hear him in practice and it sounds like he’s gone to a kind of riff-tastic place.
“A kind of, I dunno, heavy rock version of the Holy Bible seems to be going on musically for him – but we haven’t actually written anything at the moment.”
Nicky went on to look back on the record that is inspiring their new sound, and said Holy Bible is definitely their masterpiece: “I think really, from the Holy Bible to the release even of Design For Life we were pretty untouchable.
“Holy Bible does stand alone as a band reclaiming its utter soul.”
But despite this, the Manics rarely play tracks from the Holy Bible live. Nicky explained why: “It’s awkward – you have to be in a mental state of ferocious animosity and kind of bewilderment.
“It’s the only time I feel slightly wrong or fake about doing stuff because you’ve just really got to feel that way.
“That album is as much of a mental state as it is a piece of music.”
The Manics will headline the Radio1/NME tent at the Reading and Leeds festivals this summer.

The Manics have a new blog posted on their official site. And R*E*P*E*A*T fanzine recently got an interview with Sean (yes, really) that you can read on their site.
Normally, I don't update here if I make changes in the gallery, but I figured I switched things around enough that I should let you all know.
I reorganized larger photos into this folder and I added new NME scans of Richey at the end here.
I'd like some input from anyone who actually uses the gallery, cos it would help me out a lot in how I organize it. Can you find your way around it well enough? Does anything bother you about it? Would tags help at all? I've been trying to set it up to make it easy for people to find things, but I never know if it is or not, so any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!
